Thought for the Day

We need daily contact with the God of our understanding. The thoughts below are designed to allow us to meditate on our circumstances and see how our Universal Source, God, works in our lives.

Thought for the Day - 1

Dependence upon the love of God is healthy. While a person’s well-being and happiness can be added to, or even diminished, by human efforts, only God can provide what is needed…one day at a time.

Thought for the Day - 2

Often our churches teach about sin and how sin "separates" us from God. As a result, people have been taught to fear God. I do not think this is/was God's intent. Are the choices we make mistakes or do we sin? I believe God sees all things as choices. Sometimes the choices we make take us farther away from God and cause ourselves or others pain.

The purpose of our Life is Spiritual Growth. The “Earth School” does not offer a painless existence, and we are subject to "random chaos", events that happen not by design. These events offer us the opportunity for gaining perspective. We grow, learn to rely upon God, center on or find our faith. The chaos may well then be thought of as gifts in disguise. They are not moments of punishment. We do not control events or people, only our own actions. When we chose to rely on our Spiritual Source the "storm" has meaning.

Thought for the Day - 3

It is by helping others we find the greatest rewards. However, we cannot help someone else until we help first ourselves. The question then is how do I do this? Perhaps it all begins with God. With God we can be ourselves: admit our mistakes, our shortcomings, we do not have to “put on a face” for God. In choosing to tell God about our shortcomings, we open the door to healing, and learning. We clear away that “wreckage”. It is part of our Spiritual growth and in turn allows us to be open, honest with others and perhaps be of service to them.

Thought for the Day - 4

We say, "Change seems to come when we least expect it". We know that in acknowledging that a situation must change...there will be resistance, barriers we or others put up...but nothing can stay the same...because we need to grow... brought on by the momentum of God moving in our lives.

We fear some impending changes…because we know there will be things NOT in our control...we are afraid where these changes will take us…we fear that we are not up to the challenge. Positive change, change that is right for us, will occur when we are ready…and we will have the strength to “survive” those changes.

We just need to perhaps look at them not as “stumbling blocks” to our will, but the path that God is leading us on. When we are troubled by circumstances in our lives, and we know a change is called for, stepping out into the unknow, in faith, is the answer.

Praying minute to minute for God to guide our steps will give us peace even in the midst of fear.

Thought for the Day - 5

Rescuing people from their choices and the subsequent consequences of those choices...is not helping, but is enabling. Enabling doesn’t “help” but prevents people from realizing their full potential.

Helping is doing something for someone else that they are unable to do for themselves. Enabling is doing things for someone else that they can and should be doing for themselves. Providing temporary help to someone is kindness and consideration towards the receiver. We feel wonderful when we are able to these things. But the caveat is this is “temporary”. It is not something we do over and over again.

When we take on another’s responsibilities we are preventing them from experiencing the consequences of their own actions. Society tells us that a “good” mother or "good" father give their children everything they themselves never had. Society tells us to try and make things “easier” for our children. However, we all must learn to stand on our own. It is necessary for our Spiritual growth.

Allowing persons to recognize and accept their responsibilities and the consequences of their choices, (rather than enabling the continuance of unacceptable behaviors to the detriment of everyone involved) is the most loving thing we can do for our children. As long as we continue to enable our adult children, they will continue to deny they have any problems because most of their problems are being "solved" by those around them. Patterns of fear, dependence and avoidance can become deep rooted. Detaching in Love is helping. God has them, the same as you.

Thought for the Day - 6

This morning in my meditation, I read, "we can embrace our experiences today and be grateful. We are never certain if the experience offered will be our last". WHOA!

After reading that, I "talked with God", and reflected on the challenges I have had to meet recently. While I cannot perhaps understand fully how they fit into my lessons and learning process, I do know that they have served to extend my communication with God beyond just my meditation.

God, the Universal Spiritual Source, Our Higher Power, ALWAYS has our best interest at heart. Every event, every act, works together, in the best way possible for the best outcome for all. "Turn it over" and "let go" of the outcome. Let God.

Thought for the Day -7

Happiness lies within. We must encourage it to spring forth. But first we need to believe that happiness is fully within our

power. We must trust that the most difficult circumstances won't keep it from us when we have learned to tap the source within, God.
